Answer
With a vehicle tracking system, like the C-track SECURE and C-track SAT201, you are able to track and to monitor the position of the vehicle. You are also able to receive a SMS that alert you any movement of the vehicle. There is usually a facility to create a limited amount of reports. Many vehicle tracking systems are web-based.
A professional fleet management system, like the C-track ASSIST and C-track SOLO, comes with dedicated fleet management software, installed on your PC, also named base station. All your vehicles should be visible on the screen.
It offers you beside vehicle tracking also driving performance monitoring, and the addition of hardware like sensors (door sensors, fuel sensors, fatigue detection monitor, etc.). All your vehicles can have their own parameters assigned. Samples of parameters are maximum allowable speed and SMS alerts. A two way SMS and or voice communication can be added as well.
Many fleet management systems has immobilization as feature: remotely switch off the vehicle engine in case of theft, robbery or any other urgent case.
Compared to vehicle tracking, the creation of reports is more extensive.
Fleet management systems are pricier than vehicle tracking systems, but their reduction of operational loss, like fuel and cargo theft, and reduction of operational costs is significantly higher.
